Paint Stories Volume 2: Moody Colors May 5, 2016 In my second paint stories blog, (Read the first volume here) I wanted to introduce you to my favorite “moody” shades from my Top 25 Collection. I would define the genre “moody” as deep, with its own unique feeling and emotion. I love that these five colors each reflect this in their own way. Read below to learn the personal stories of Garden Trowel, Duke Grey, Luxe, Blackboard, and Silverado Sage and what each one means to me. Note: These photos represent the feeling and inspiration behind each color, but do not show the actual paint colors represented. 1. Silverado Sage Silverado Sage is a native Texas plant that has always stuck out to me. No matter how hot the Texas summer gets, it endures. And then, when the first summer storm blows through, it opens purple blooms—like a little celebration. 2. Luxe Luxe is a color that reminds me of everyday luxuries—simple pleasures that make your space feel warm and inviting. A candle burning, a soft throw blanket, a beautiful rug. To me, these are the littlest things that transform your house into a home. 3. Garden Trowel There’s something medicinal and relaxing about putting your hands to work in the garden. For me, it’s such a simple pleasure that I think everyone should try. Spending time in the garden gives you a nostalgic “back to the basics” feeling – just like this shade of gray. 4. Blackboard This color gives me the nostalgic feeling of a blackboard in an old schoolhouse. I love the way this color tells a story of times past, and the way it defines whatever is set up against it. 5. Duke Gray This shade of gray reminds me of my youngest son, Duke. It’s consistent, reliable, kind and plays well with others—just like Duke. The “Moody” shades bring depth and feeling to any space, and I hope you love them as much as I do.
