What Size Bowl Do I Need for Pasta, Cereal, or Soup?
Bowl size comes down to what you're eating and how much of it. For pasta, a wider bowl in the 8 to 9 inch range with a capacity around 30 to 40 ounces gives the pasta enough surface area to spread out and makes tossing and serving easier. For cereal and oatmeal, a smaller, deeper bowl in the 6 to 7 inch range around 16 to 20 ounces is more practical,  enough for a full serving without being oversized. Soup falls somewhere in between, a 7 to 8 inch bowl with a capacity around 20 to 30 ounces works well for most portions. If you're buying one bowl that does all three, aim for something in the 8 inch, 30 ounce range — it handles pasta and soup comfortably and works for a generous cereal portion too.
