Have you ever felt nostalgic for days as they come…already missing time currently at hand? It’s as if it comes and goes all at once, here then gone as we reach to confirm reality. A perpetual cycle of longing and being, reaching and seeing. When we stop to take note of the present, this feeling of longing and desire can be met with enjoyment of life to the full.
Fall serves as a welcome reminder that, when savored, change can be beautiful. The pruning of old to make way for new. It also reminds us to slow down and notice the process of transition, even when we’re in the midst of it. It’s nature’s way of showing it’s ok to let go because, after all, movement guides us into growth.
This is largely why the theme of “attune” felt right for the season. Here’s how we’re defining it: a willingness to tune in to the ways of our heart and the necessary readjusting of rhythms as we grow.
As routines form and new schedules bid for attention, fall presents an opportunity to take note of—or attune to—the moments that shape our days. In following nature’s lead, we can evaluate what’s working for us and what’s no longer needed. Then, shed as necessary.
This can be done in our hearts, minds, and everyday rhythms, i.e., old patterns to break and new habits to adopt. Maybe you want to start setting your alarm just a little earlier to enjoy the morning before the world wakes. Or, make a habit of gathering at the table for dinner more often instead of taking meals on the go.
When we take time to evaluate the things we both want to leave behind and carry on, our lives can better reflect who we are—and long to be. But this can also be done in our homes (i.e., syncing our environment with the season) before we’re catapulted into the hustle of the holidays.
It could be as simple as lighting a candle to fill your home with notes of pumpkin. Or maybe it's swapping out flourishing blooms for moody dried stems that reach upward and out. It could mean layering a few extra throws on the sofa to warm up a space, or cleaning your Dutch oven because cooler weather typically calls for a batch of hearty soup.
When we pause, even for just a moment, to notice what best serves the season we’re in, we can savor the nature of today—and feel prepared, even refreshed, to step into tomorrow. But this requires practiced presence in a fleeting fall. One season, fully enjoyed, makes way for the next. In life, at home, and outside, too.
And that's the art of taking notice.
Forward into fall—welcome thoughtful shifts that feel like home with our new collection.
