This winter at Magnolia, we’re exploring the theme of presence. In a season characterized by hustle and bustle, presence is an invitation to slow down, savor each moment, and simply take it all in. As we launch our holiday collection, we’re sharing a look at how the theme and the season spoke into the pieces that make up this collection. From guiding concepts to colors and materials, here’s a look at how it all came together.
Into the Holiday Spirit
Each season begins with our team imagining a story or setting that will guide the collection’s look and feel. Two scenes set the stage for this winter’s collection. The first is a traditional Christmas at home inspired by favorite memories—pulling down dusty boxes from the attic, decorating the tree while Louis Armstrong plays in the background, and gathering with loved ones around the fire. The second is inspired by the quiet calm of a snowy winter’s day in the forest—a winter woodland scene with streams of sunlight glistening through the trees, white-capped mushrooms, and the ground covered with a dusting of snow. With those images in mind, our team began creating the collection.
The Senses of the Season
Using the inspiration stories as a guide, our team chose a color palette and mix of materials that defines our holiday collection. The pieces inspired by our traditional Christmas scene feature classic colors (think reds, greens, and gold), burnished metals, and traditional patterns. Our winter woodland-inspired pieces include icy pastels, cozy textiles, lush greenery, and natural materials.
Wonder at Every Turn
With every piece in this collection, our hope is to help you create spaces that invite you to embrace and celebrate the season—like this arched brass Metal Card Wall Display, made for highlighting treasured holiday cards and photos from this year (and years past), keeping them out for all to see. And these vintage-inspired mixing bowls and measuring cups, designed with holiday baking traditions in mind. Even as you look ahead in anticipation for what’s to come, our heirloom-inspired Advent calendars provide an opportunity to slow down and focus on the gifts of each day.
Stretch out the season with pieces you can keep out even after the holidays have passed—like our Holiday Citrus WreathOpens in new tab dotted with real dried orange slices and this serving board stamped with a hand-drawn pine detail.
