A console table gives you a surface for keys, mail, and the things you set down when you come through the door. A bench provides a place to sit while putting on shoes and doubles as a visual anchor for the space. A sideboard in a wider entryway adds storage and can hold the same decorative role it would in a dining room.

What Furniture Works Best in a Small Entryway?
In a narrow entryway, a slim console table is usually the most practical choice. It adds function and style without taking up much floor space. Look for one that's no more than 14–16 inches deep so it doesn't project too far into the walkway. A small bench tucked against the wall or underneath the console table adds seating without requiring a dedicated footprint. If you have wall space, hooks and a shelf above the console can expand storage vertically and keep the floor clear.
