Start with the table. It's the anchor of the room, and the right one depends as much on how you use the space as how it looks. As a general guide, allow at least 36 inches between the table edge and the nearest wall to ensure comfortable movement, and choose a length based on how many people you regularly seat rather than the maximum you might occasionally need.
