I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: taking the time to create something delicious or beautiful (or both!) is always worth the effort. There’s just so much comfort tethered to an act of intentionality, especially during seasons of change or transition. When we filmed today’s episode my oldest daughter Ella was preparing to head off to college so I’d made it my mission to spend the summer making and baking her favorite dishes—which includes cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing. Over the years I’ve developed a handful of similar recipes, but this one by far is my favorite—soft and golden with just the right amount of bounce and cinnamon. Since I tend to crave coffee with cinnamon rolls, I’m also sharing a favorite sugar recipe I like to keep on hand as an easy sweetener for at-home lattes. It’s also become tradition to batch this vanilla sugar around the holidays as a gift for family and friends.
Enjoy!
