Vanilla Bean Turbinado Sugar

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups turbinado sugar 
  • 1 vanilla bean

Directions

1. Using a small paring knife, slice open the vanilla bean and scrape out the seeds. 

2. Combine the sugar and vanilla bean seeds in the bowl of a mortar and pestle. 

3. Use the pestle to grind the vanilla bean seeds and sugar together until the vanilla is fragrant and evenly dispersed throughout the sugar, about 4 minutes. 

4. Store in airtight jars.
