Welcome to Mini Reni: Bedroom!
When my kids were younger, I made a point to decorate their bedrooms in such a way that it could grow along with them and I took that same approach with this boy’s room.
I wanted to add a masculine color in here while not overpowering the room, so we installed this navy wallpaper to the lower half of the walls and painted the upper half white. Wallpaper can bring a lot of character into an otherwise basic room, and because this grid pattern is subtle, it makes for a good foundation to layer in colors and additional patterns.
We installed a chair rail and made the trim a little deeper so it could serve as a photo ledge that would help personalize the space even more. We updated the hardware on the existing built-ins to tie into the chrome accents on the ceiling fan. It’s a simple detail but I love the way it subtly ties the room together.
This room shows how a little creativity and a few simple updates really can go a long way.
Here’s a more detailed look inside this bedroom, tips on how you can do the same at home, and ways to shop the look.
What We Updated
Paint + wallpaper: We painted the window and wall trim a navy color and installed coordinating wallpaper underneath. (Note: If you’re new to installing wallpaper, a pattern like this may be challenging to keep the grid straight. Hire a professional or opt for a more organic pattern.)
- Walls: One Horn White, Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines crafted by KILZ.
- Trim: We color matched the paint to the navy in the wallpaper
