DIY: Thoughtful Neighbor Gift December 17, 2015 This week Joanna shared some of her beautiful and practical gift ideas for your hostesses. Today we wanted to share one more thoughtful and sweet gift idea to make your Christmas giving a little easier. This cookie dough gift is a fun alternative to the classic baked cookie gift, and your neighbor, coworker, the kiddos’ teachers or a friend will have the option to freeze it and save it for a rainy day. The key to this gift is the thought put into its presentation. Wrapped in soft linen or simple cheesecloth, these beautiful packages will be a unique and useful gift they’ll likely want to replicate themselves. Here’s what you’ll need: Cookie dough (your own recipe or store-bought) Plastic wrap Parchment paper A piece of soft fabric (Linen, cotton, cheesecloth or even a new dishtowel will work perfectly) Twine, ribbon or jute Labels (you can print from HERE or make your own based on your recipe’s instructions) 1. Prepare your favorite cookie recipe (skip if using store-bought). 2. Place in fridge to cool for a few minutes to make handling easier. 3. Shape cookie dough into a cylinder shape. 4. Wrap dough with clear plastic wrap. 5. Wrap plastic wrapped dough in parchment paper and fold ends. 6. Place fabric or tea towel and wrap parchment package with towel. 7. Gather ends and tie with ribbon or twine. 8. Print label and wrap around package, securing with tape. You can also add a little sprig of rosemary or winter greens for an added Christmas touch, if you happen to have anything on hand. That’s it! Quick, simple and something you can easily make for everyone left on your list in one sitting! We hope you enjoy this simple DIY. Remember, if you try this out to use #magnoliamarket on Instagram! We can’t wait to see how you make it your own.
