Another Season

Joanna and I are builders. At any given time, it seems that one of us is trying to convince the other of some worn down thing in need of fixing. Finding the potential in something always gives us reason to make it new again. This is our favorite kind of work. The kind we learned how to do together back when we first met. The kind that continues to get us up and out of bed every morning. It’s also this very thing that first introduced us to all of you.

The day we wrapped our final episode of Fixer Upper, we really believed it was a chapter closed. A bittersweet ending to a season of our lives that we couldn’t have been more grateful for. In that moment, the future was a little uncertain, but Jo and I were sure of a few things. We knew we needed a break and a moment to catch our breath.

But we also knew we weren’t done dreaming about ways to make old things new again. And these past few years, we’ve continued tackling renovations and projects that we’ve both been passionate about, including a few really special ones that we can’t wait for you to watch unfold on the network when it launches.

The thing about Fixer Upper was that we got to do the work we love right alongside all of you. Every week, we could feel you cheering on these families from the other side of the screen. And the point is we’ve missed sharing these stories with you.

So, it’s with a ton of excitement that we get to announce some big news.. We will be filming another season of Fixer Upper to air on Magnolia Network when it launches next year.

I mean it when I say that it wasn’t more than a few weeks ago that we first talked about returning to the show. I mentioned it to Jo, fully expecting her to tell me I was crazy. But instead, in a real sincere way, she told me she’d been missing it too. I get that it all may seem a little impulsive and that might be true. But the more Jo and I talked it over, the more we began to see it for what it really is: an opportunity to get to share with you some of the projects we care most about.

This past year, we have poured our hearts into content and programming for Magnolia Network. Searching for stories we believe the world needs to hear. Stories that bring us together, that let us see things in a whole new light. Stories that connect us to our roots, and to one another. And for Jo and me, it dawned on us that we wanted to be a part of this lineup with a new season of Fixer Upper.

In a lot of ways, the show is going to pick up right where it left off. These years in between have taught us a lot about ourselves and how we operate best, so we’re likely to do a few things a little differently this time around.

We’re gearing up to start filming again, and I’ll be honest, Jo and I feel like a couple of kids trying our best to keep down a few butterflies. But we are mostly just giddy about getting the band back together again so we can share the story of these families and their homes with you.

So, what do you say, are you ready to see our next fixer upper?
