Holiday & Fall Garlands
A garland is one of the most versatile pieces of seasonal decor you can own. It works on a mantel, draped along a staircase railing, down the center of a dining table, or framed around a doorway. This collection covers holiday and fall styles, from real-touch pine cone and berry garlands for Christmas to seasonal greenery that works from Thanksgiving through the new year.
How to Style a Garland on a Mantel
A mantel garland works best when it's layered rather than simply draped across the top. Start by securing the garland at the center of the mantel and letting it drape naturally toward each end. The slight dip in the middle gives it a more natural, full look than pulling it taut. From there, layer in candles, candleholders, and small decorative objects on top of or in front of the garland to give the mantel depth and varying heights. For a Christmas mantel, stockings hung at each end anchor the arrangement and give the garland a natural frame.
How Long Should a Mantel Garland Be?
A good rule of thumb is to measure the width of your mantel and add 12 to 24 inches on each side to allow for draping. For a standard 5-foot mantel, a 6 to 7-foot garland works well. For a longer or grander mantel, two garlands joined at the center give a fuller, more dramatic look without gaps.
