The Inspiration Behind Our Cottage Collection

A fresh batch of cinnamon rolls are being made in this kitchen using pieces from our Cottage Collection, like the Forest Green Baking Dish and Oatmeal Block Printed Tea Towel.

While fall was still a glimmer on the horizon, our team began dreaming of the many autumnal traditions that center around food. Those recipes and flavors we love so much that we might start enjoying them before the season arrives. (We won’t tell if you do, too.) Our kitchens become the place to be during these months. So we wanted to design a batch of tools, bakeware, serving dishes, and more that could help us find new ways to return to familiar rhythms. After all, even in ritual and routine, fresh discoveries await.

That brings us to our Cottage Collection, curated to embrace culinary creativity, grounded in character and charm. Here, we’re sharing what inspired its colorful look—plus a few of our favorite pieces—so you can find the right ones to add to your collection at home.

Going Green

Above: Our team’s mood board + inspiration for the Cottage Collection, featuring images from Round Top and Jo's butler's pantry.

The most distinctive thing about this collection is its color. A forest-inspired tone appears throughout the assortment as a nod to our signature 1905 Green. Jo and the team immediately gravitated toward this palette—knowing that green can often serve as a neutral that brings a space to life. The exact shade of green varies throughout (with pops of golden ochre and white) to keep from “matching” while still looking cohesive. These differences create an impression of being passed down through generations. We also played with textures on the ceramics—layering in a stripe or speckled glaze to reflect vintage finds.

“We scoured our Round Top photos, studied the butler's pantry at the Castle, and combed through some of Jo's favorite vintage finds...to create an assortment that feels collected over time.”—Casey Green, VP of Product Design + Development

Noteworthy Pieces

As you explore this collection, here are a few favorites we’d recommend taking note of...

The Cottage Collection Forest Green Baking Dish with Lid

This baking dish goes from the oven to the table beautifully. The ribbed texture gives it an heirloom feel, worthy of the recipes you hold most dearly.

The Cottage Collection Forest Green Striped Mixing Bowl Set

These bowls add subtle color to the mix. We love the retro look of the bold green stripes—and how these pieces nest together for easy storage.

Forest Green Speckle Spoon Rest

Here’s a pretty landing place for spoons, whisks, and all the rest of your cooking utensils. The elegant edges stand out even more thanks to its woodsy green hue.

Ochre Scalloped Mini Bowl

This little bowl brings a lot of joy with its golden glaze that pairs well with the forest green version, too. Use it as a pinch bowl for salt and spices—or to serve small bites.

The Cottage Collection Forest Green Scalloped Pie Dish

Serve up your favorite seasonal pies with this delightful dish. The dramatic scalloped detailing and speckled finish are sure to impress your guests, however you slice it.

Classic + Collected

When designing this capsule of kitchen staples, we also considered how we could style it with other essentials on the countertop. The natural charm and vintage feel of the Cottage Collection complements warm materials like walnut wood and copper. Together, these pieces create a classic and collected look that stands the test of time.
