There are few things as tried and true as biscuits and muffins in our house, and for years I’ve made the same recipes from when the kids were young. Ordinarily, I’m not the type to riff on a recipe I already know we all love, but every now and then I get the urge to shake things up and experiment. That’s how I found my way to today’s recipes: blueberry muffins with a special streusel topping and buttermilk biscuits with extra layers baked in. I hope you enjoy these twists on a couple of Gaines family staples—and that it might even encourage some riffing of your own!
