When it comes to furniture, we are endlessly inspired by former eras. Maybe it’s the abundance of warm, well-worn materials. Or all the distinct shapes and silhouettes... To us, old-fashioned pieces carry a level of artistry—an attention to detail—that is unmatched. And while we love a true vintage good, we also look for ways to give our newly crafted items the same storied feel with lasting quality.
Enter: the Corinne Collection. Drawing inspiration from French antiques, this Magnolia-exclusive furniture set was designed by Jo and the team to become a bedroom mainstay. It’s a nostalgic assortment that brings a timeless sense of grandeur to any space. From the initial concept to its final form, here, we’re giving Corinne a moment in the spotlight—and sharing dreams for the future of the collection.
Finding Inspiration

During ideation sessions with the team, Jo often references vintage pieces she’s collected over the years. That was the starting point for Corinne: an antique dining table in Jo’s office at our Headquarters (pictured above).
Right off the bat, we were captivated by the soft curves and gracefully turned wood. These details reminded us of a time-honored, feminine French style—prominent in the Provincial and Directoire design eras. Diving into those periods, we loved the characteristics of simplicity in form and thoughtful ornamentation. From there, Casey (our VP of Product Design and Development) worked with furniture designers to nail down a fresh take on this antique style.
Letting It Take Shape

We knew we wanted to emphasize contours and moldings that felt traditionally French while being minimalistic with surface decorations and overall geometry. We also decided to set each piece on turned legs of varying heights to offer a poised look. Across the board, our intentional shift toward simplicity allowed us to reimagine old-world charm in a modern way.
Our team sketched and tweaked designs for a few months, and then spent a year working with production samples. Throughout this experimental phase, we got creative with wood textures, finishing colors, and, of course, hardware.
Selecting Noteworthy Details

For the wood, we started with mahogany veneer featuring an elegant cathedral grain. This cut reveals a series of arching, wavy lines that resemble vaulted architecture in cathedrals. Since the material is naturally beautiful, we wanted the finishes to feel neutral and slightly imperfect—allowing the character of the grain to stand out. “Weathered Barn” has a warm mid-tone appearance that nods back to some of the vintage goods our team found in Roundtop. “Black” is a sleek hue that feels dramatic yet classic.
For the hardware, we looked to our Magnolia design library of custom-developed pieces and picked out delicate ring pulls. The scale and size of these dainty metal loops are both unexpected and quaint. Plus, the soft, curved shape ties back to the collection’s overarching visual theme. Corinne was at last a cohesive bedroom set, complete with a bed, headboard (including an upholstered option!), nightstand, and dresser.
Dreaming of New Forms

For us, the best designs are ones that easily lend themselves to different styles. We love building upon a collection, incorporating fresh hues or details that can pair well with the existing pieces or flourish on their own. Recently, we’ve been inspired by a resurgence of color in the furniture world, and therefore decided to give Corinne a splash.
For our Corinne Reeded Nightstand, we chose a subtle seafoam green that complements the original finishes. We also took the opportunity to add some ornamentation with a reeded texture on the drawers. The new version feels playful yet grounded in the original vintage aesthetic. It’s these kinds of updates that continue to spark creativity for our team as we envision what to create next. After all, the story of home is continuously evolving—making room for something new.
As you explore the Corinne Collection, we hope you’ll see its story brought to life through every detail—and feel inspired to embrace a similar mix of old and new in your home.
