8 Ways to Center Yourself this Spring

by Magnolia
Published on March 27, 2025

Reminders of renewal unfurl around us come springtime. Once-bare trees brim with blooms, browned grass grows green again, and the longer, warmer days point to hope on the horizon. Winter brings a beauty all its own, beckoning a slow life from the inside. But then, spring. It draws us out and into the world as it awakens.

It's a balancing act, really, to be fully present in one season—while readying for the next. In the spirit of springtime, we’re sharing a few ideas to help recenter yourself for the year ahead. Although not prescriptive, it can be helpful to think of balance less as something to achieve and more as a journey to embark on. So, here are some ideas to cultivate a well-loved life this spring—coupled with others to make the world around you a little more beautiful, too.

At Home

1. Make space. Decluttering is no stranger to this season (see: spring cleaning). Although it can feel overwhelming at times, starting small and making steady progress daily can be just as effective as an overhaul. Consider investing in new storage furniture to get knicknacks out of the junk drawer. Or, a new set of canisters and baskets that you feel excited to fill. You might be surprised at how taking a few minutes to tidy unlocks brain space that was waiting in the wings.

2. Add meaning. Once you’ve cleared out things that no longer spark joy, fill in the gaps with little treasures that mean something to you. Memories can be art, after all. Consider framing a new photo, filling a shadow box with collected notes, or hanging a well-loved recipe card in your kitchen. Your home should be a canvas, a reflection of your life and the people who have helped shape it.

In the Kitchen

3. Nourish your body with seasonal produce and leafy greens. This can look like taking a trip to a local farmers market or simply spending some extra time in the produce aisle. Keep an eye out for asparagus, root vegetables, herbs, and other greens…these are all at their prime during spring!

4. Share a meal with a friend in need—or just because. Maybe they’re navigating family changes, battling an illness, or could simply use a pick-me-up. Whatever the reason be, our roundups—like a Collection of Recipes for a Spring Gathering and Delicious Dishes You Can Make in Under 30 Minutes—make it easy to try your hand at something new. With Others

5. Invite others into your sacred spaces. There’s an art to casual hangs, often a sign of deeper, easy connection. Even if your home is far from “guest ready,” spending intentional time together can create shared experiences that are restful to all. Take the pressure off gathering and simply be in the presence of one another. After all, pizza can please a crowd just as much as a four-course dinner!

6. Seek celebrations. Think outside of the box: baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, workiversaries, graduations, or an ordinary Tuesday afternoon. Let spring be a season of marking milestones—and going all out. Taking time to commemorate the big and small joys in our community is invaluable to a balanced, well-loved life. P.S. Outside

7. Stay grounded. The spring season is fleeting and often carries some of the most idyllic weather of the year. Being intentional about stepping outside—and bringing remnants of it inside—can naturally make us feel more at home. Whether it’s taking a walk over your lunch break or placing a bundle of faux blooms in plain sight, there are plenty of ways to incorporate reminders of the outdoors into everyday living.

8. Hone your green thumb. In a season of beauty scattered about, lean into gardening or another tangible hobby you’ve been interested in taking up. The best part? Planting perennials in your garden is a gift that will keep on giving, season after season.
