Apple Butter Printable from the Magnolia Journal

We’re big fans of the slow cooker apple butter recipe from the fall issue of the Magnolia Journal. Its subtle, sweet flavor makes it a crowd favorite. And with the holiday season coming up fast, the timing for having great gift ideas is right.

We designed a simple gift tag, so you can use this recipe for any occasion. Here are a few ideas of how to spread some holiday cheer this season.

  1. Give it as a hostess gift
  2. Brighten your mailman’s day
  3. Take as a thank you to your kids’ teachers
  4. Leave on your neighbor’s front porch
  5. Place on a coworker’s desk

All it takes to turn this recipe into a gift is adding a few simple details to make it personal.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Printable gift tag
  2. A simple jar
  3. Baker’s twine or your string of choice
  4. Bonus: Bake a loaf of bread or a batch of homemade biscuits to go with your homemade apple butter.

The slow cooker apple butter recipe is simple to make. Just follow the instructions from page 59 of the fall 2017 issue of the Magnolia Journal and then let it cool. When refrigerated, its shelf life is about one week, so plan to gift it while it’s fresh to allow plenty of time for your recipient to enjoy it.

Once it’s cooled, spoon the spread into a jar, like these we picked up at a local craft supply store, and tie the gift tag around it using your twine.

I'm not finding the recipes that I am looking for in the Winter 2017 issue. How do I look for them? Like the Christmas Cranberry Bread, Buttermilk Blueberry Puff, etc.....

Finding your recipes is a very challenging process. I have my last issues #6 and can not find any of the recipes that you claim you can download for free. This website could be a lot more user friendly.
