Burgers and Fries
A good burger episode was long overdue, so I’m recruiting Chip to help me make one of our signature dishes we serve at our restaurant here in Waco—the Gaines Brothers Burger. There are a few things I love about this one, like the blend of locally sourced ground beef (giving you a more complex flavor and texture) and the buttery, griddled bun. But the real showstopper for me is the sweet and spicy Jalapeño Drip Jam, which gives this burger its own special kick.
On the side, we’re cutting and hand-frying crinkle-cut Homemade Fries, and to finish it off, we’re making Aunt Opal’s Banana Pudding. This classic Southern dessert is Chip’s great aunt’s recipe, and the layers of wafers, vanilla pudding, banana slices, and homemade whipped cream create a light and delicious combination.
Chip likes to go the extra mile with burgers and grind his own meat, but when you’re short on time, this menu is easy to whip up with something store-bought. It's up to you. In the end, making burgers is a fun way to bring everyone together, and that's what matters most.
