TIP: Rose water is available in some high-end grocery stores and online. Sumac can be found in the spice aisle at some supermarkets, in stores that specialize in Middle Eastern ingredients, and online.
Ingredients
  • 2 to 3 heads Little Gem lettuce, rinsed, dried, and split in half
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons rose water (see Cook’s Note)
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches sumac (see Cook’s Note)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, roughly chopped
    Directions
    1. Arrange the lettuce on a platter, cut-side up.
    2. In a mason jar or bowl, combine the buttermilk, mayonnaise, rose water, salt, and pepper. Screw the lid on the jar and shake or whisk the ingredients together in a bowl until thoroughly combined.
    3. Drizzle the dressing over the lettuce. Sprinkle with the sumac and mint and serve.
