Makenna Held bought Julia Child's home in France and turned it into a recipe-free cooking school. Now, she and her team welcome students into this iconic kitchen where enthusiasts learn to step out of their comfort zone and tap into their intuition.
A self-proclaimed "professional pursuer of curiosity,” Chris is a musician, writer, educator, librarian, husband, papa, and business owner. As head historian at La Peetch, Chris shares details about the history of the property and the region. He runs the Courageous Cooking school with his wife, Makenna.
Originally from Boulder, CO, Makenna bought La Peetch sight unseen in 2015 and moved to the South of France where she created the Courageous Cooking Method and opened the world's first recipe-free cooking school. Now she teaches classes that shake up how people think, talk, and build cooking capacity.
Kendall started out in a fish market on her native Sanibel Island, Florida before opening a butcher shop in South Carolina, graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and climbing the ranks in many Michelin-starred restaurants. She’s the executive chef and culinary director of The Courageous Cooking School.
