Episode 07 - The North 40th Street Story

November 11, 2015

The North 40th Street Story exterior Chip and Joanna sought to help find the perfect home for their client and her son as they were starting a new chapter in their lives. Joanna really wanted to make this a space feel special for both of them; a place to look forward to coming home to. Although the house was small, she really wanted to incorporate unique pieces and attention to detail. Before the renovation started, the house had a choppy layout. The client wanted a larger living space, so Chip and Joanna removed a wall to open up the space. The kitchen didn’t actually change in size, but Chip and Joanna decided to reconfigure the cabinets to make it seem larger. Joanna also used contrasting colors to give the space a bigger feel. All it takes is some brainstorming and creative design to transform a small space into something much larger in The North 40th Street Story!

I love everything you both do. Maybe one day I'll be able to have my own fixer upper!

We are restoring and fixing up a 1928 cabin in the mountains of North Carolina. It has no bathroom or kitchen at this point and the ladder/stairs to the second floor are grandfathered in because the opening at the top is less than 4 feet. We love watching your program and keep getting inspirations for fixing this unique 525 sq ft cabin to be our summer getaway. My husband loves the idea of restoring and flipping and at 73 he has Chip's energy for demo day!

The photos are beautiful . . . "reflective" of the beautiful work. Great job!
