DIY: Mini Christmas Tree Topiaries December 10, 2015 There’s something very magical about Christmastime; from the glow of the Christmas tree – to the time spent with family – to miniature villages covered in snow. It’s also the perfect time to slow down and make memories with your loved ones. These fun miniature Christmas tree topiaries that the team put together add the perfect touch to your gingerbread house… …or look cute simply displayed under a cloche or in a terrarium. They’re adorable all covered in “snow”… …or you can just display them in their natural color throughout the winter by spritzing them with water once in a while. Materials: One or two branches of evergreen (we used Mountain Hemlock) Pruning shears Bonsai shears or sharp scissors Mini terracotta pots (these measure 1.5″) Foam oasis Spray snow (available at crafts stores) 1. Cut section of greenery with shears 2. Remove some of the bottom needles to reveal stem (this will be the ‘trunk’) 3. With scissors, shape sprig to create the shape of a ‘tree’ 4. Make various shapes and sizes for interest 5. Soak, cut and insert foam oasis into terracotta pots 6. Insert ‘tree’ in the middle of foam and add moss if desired 7. OPTIONAL: Place mini tree in box or take it outside and spray with fake snow; allow to dry 8. Add some cotton batting under tree 9. Place under cloche or in terrarium and enjoy I am a sucker for miniatures, they remind me of the fairy gardens we have in the greenhouse. It just seems so magical. These adorable little trees would also make cute place settings for a Christmas table and don’t be afraid to get your kiddos involved in this project to create an adorable little forest. This season is all about making memories with those you love.
